George Smallwood reported on the progress of his and Roger Reid’s efforts to complete the clubs incorporation. George reported it’s a done deal and should be completed on 1/7/06. We have been given a Tax ID number.
Jim Moody raised the subject of a Lake County Magic Association Historian. The subject was carried over until the next meeting.
Leesburg’s Mayor has proclaimed October Magic Month for Leesburg. On 10/23/06 at 6 PM during the City Council Meeting the club will be present to accept the document proclaiming Magic Month. We need to have as many Club Members present as possible. It is far enough out that everyone should be able to make plans to attend. Come on get your picture in the newspaper.
Jim Moody reports that Lake Square Mall has been approached concerning a show. We are waiting for them to get back to us.
The club has been informed of a Spook Show in Sarasota put on by Vince Carmen. Contact Chuck Smith for more information.
NEW MEETING PLACE: Starting in July our new meeting place for our monthly meetings and our luncheons will be Lil’ Anthony’s on 441 in Leesburg.
We will have use of a private backroom at no charge so, lets support Lil’ Anthony’s by eating something either before or after the meeting it’s only fair…don’t you think. They are very happy to have us there and have dedicated a special area of the restaurant to magic. It will be a great opportunity for those who do or want to do Walk Around and Strolling Magic to get some practical experience at the restaurant and they would like you to do it…think about it.
Roger Reid has announced that Habitat for Humanity is having their annual bash at the TD Waterhouse Center in Orlando. He is looking for people to do Stand-Up, Strolling Magic, and Clowns for more information be at our next meeting or contact Roger Reid. The event will be on 10/25/06 in Orlando
Lee Langer informed the club of a Casino Party in Lake County he’s looking for Magicians for 2 to 3 hours, if you’re interested contact Lee.
The 50/50 was won by Bill Scavuzzo
Richard Hewitt, Dan Dyer and Jim Moody won magic Central Gift Certificates.
May’s meeting theme was Paper Magic our MC for the night was Richard Hewitt who during his glib comments introduced:
Allan Konstan who did a funny Clip’O effect with a store about looking for a job in the newspaper. He kept annoying his father by cutting up the newspaper before he read it. Happily it all worked out Allan found a job and his father received his paper in the evening with no holes in it. Good Job Allan.
Jim Moody did a paper tare and restore with a store about being stopped by a policeman for speeding a getting a ticket which he quickly tore up. He did not count on the meeting the policeman again, however it all worked out when he restored the torn up ticket. Lucky Old Jim was then presented an addition ticket for his efforts. “Way To Go Jim”.
Chuck Smith did a Paper Toss with club member Donald Pierson. Knowing Chuck Smith what else would he use then Toilet Tissue? Classy Chuck
It would seem that Richard Hewitt has a small problem each morning when his wife looks for the daily newspaper. When Richard gets there first the paper is cut up, however he is able to restore it with a nifty Cut and Restore.
Dandy Dan Dyer had a great story about long, long, long, long ago when he was a young man…just kidding Dandy. It seem Dandy was a Sailor and he made a paper sailor hat to wear. The story went on to tell us about his girl friend, a fireman, a ship and the ship’s captain. Each time the person he talked about changed, Dandy refolded the paper into a hat that fit the persona of that person. Very Nice Job Dandy.
DON’T FORGET NEXT MONTH MEETING IS AT LIL’ ANTHONY’S
Theme for the meeting is Bag Magic…Egg Bags, Gag Bags, Paper Bags etc.
See you in July
Bill
