The Minutes of the April meeting were approved as e-mailed.
Treasurer George Smallwood reported a balance of $3804 as of the end of April. As of May 22, with the addition of the profit of The Villages Show, the balance stands at $7456. The treasurer's report was accepted as read.
Greg Solomon reported that Ring 258 ½, our Junior Ring, will take the Summer off and reconvene in September. Greg will be teaching half day Magic Camp Classes sponsored through the Ocala Civic Theatre.
Roger Reid made a motion to donate $500 to Camp Boggy Creek again this year. The motion was approved. Roger will contact Boggy Creek for a date when we can perform or do another teach-in and present our donation. We will try to get a little P.R. for the club by taking photos of the event and sending a press release to all the local papers.
The "Flea Market – Auction – Lecture" held on Saturday, May 17 was well received. The $5 entry and table fees seemed a good deal for all concerned. The "bracelet system" for the lecture worked out well. Bryan Weller was impressive as the auctioneer. The location of the event came into question. Some could not find it. The facility seems to be getting run down and tables are in poor shape. The committee should look for an alternate site for next year.
The first Ring 258 picnic will take place on Sunday, June 22, at the home of Bryan Weller in Webster. The Ring will buy hot dogs, hamburgers, "brats", etc. Chef Rich Hewitt will do the cooking. Members should bring their own drinks and one dish, such as potato salad, slaw, baked beans, etc. Contact Jim Moody CROWDTEASER@EMBARQMAIL.COM or 352-315-1100 to see what foods have already been accounted for, put your selection on his list and let him know how many people you will be bringing.

The Ring Lecture Policy was brought up again and discussed at length. A committee was formed to hammer out a policy and bring it to the next meeting for a vote. The committee members are: George Smallwood, Frank Martin, Roger Reid, Lee Langer and Greg Solomon.

The Villages has offered us a date again for next year. It was voted to provisionally accept and discuss further before signing the contract and doing all the work.

Greg Solomon reported the "Have A Heart" event was postponed until some time in 2009.
Frank Martin brought up the new TV reality series "Celebracadabra". A few members commented on the quality of the show and its likelihood of renewal.
George Smallwood won the 50/50 raffle and took home $21!
The meeting was adjourned and the room rearranged for the Balloon Lecture by Lee Langer.
Qualitex supplied Lee with a large number of sample bags of balloons to distribute which contained 260's, 160's, bees, rounds, airships, etc. Lee did a basic balloon lecture teaching how to inflate, tie and twist balloons. He explained that he originally got into balloons to add time to his magic act. It became a business, "The Balloon Box", which he and Sandy ran for years.
Lee showed how to make a number of balloon sculptures including a multi-twist poodle. He also demo'd three different types of balloon pumps and showed what happened when you turned a "geo" balloon inside out and inflate it. You get Mickey Mouse! Question: Who sits around the house and turns balloons inside out? Answer: Lee Langer!
At the end of the lecture Lee sold a number of different books on balloon sculpting at greatly reduced prices for the club membership.
Next Month: Déjà vu Magic – Subject to be announced by President Jim Moody in his Meeting Reminder e-mail.
Respectfully Submitted,
