The February 25th meeting was once again held at Denny's in leesburg. The executive committee consisting of past presidents met at 6 and got all of the nasty, boring, details out of the way so we could start our meeting at 7 pm with a normal agenda.
President Frank Martin brought the meeting to order and discussed old business, the treasury report, and the previous meetings minutes. New business included a vote on the upcoming Chris Capehart lecture which was approved for May 13th, 2010.
The club also voted down putting in a bid for a club sponsored convention.
Lastly, we passed the responsibility of the 50/50 to another member, as Jim Moody wanted some time off from it. The Christmas banquet will be determined soon, and Magic Ian will try to firm it up within the next few meetings. A cash amount of $100 was voted on as discretionary spending money for last minute expenses.
The fun part of the meeting started with a discussion on what makes a good performance, followed by the nights theme of "packing small and playing big."
First up was Tom Golabek the Poland's greatest ventriloquist. Then Jim Moody had an applause sign, followed by Roger Reid's fit to be "tide" rope effect and chick pan paper coil production, Wally did an invisible deck, Greg Solomon did a beaded dog or cat, or whatever, Dan Dyer produced a bowling ball from a briefcase, Magic Ian performed a rope thru body, cords of fantasia, and a production box of silks and jumbo dice, and lastly Brian ward did a whistle routine he did as a clown.
Next month is Fabric magic.
