Thursday, February 28,2013
President Jim Moody opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. Lee Langer led the Club in the Pledge of Allegiance. Les Morgenstein brought his lovely wife Jill as a guest.
The January Minutes were approved. The Treasury report was read by Jim Moody and accepted. Stan Kotzker, April Malara, and Bob Betz have applied for membership to our organization and they were unanimously voted in as new members. Congratulations and welcome to our newest members.
We will be having an auction at our next meeting. Jim Moody and George Smallwood have been going through the collection and matching up the items and instructions for them. Bryan Weller has once again agreed to act as our auctioneer.
Roger Reid was unable to attend tonight but passed on to Jim Moody an email between Rodger and Camp Boggey Creek to share with the membership. It was determined that due to an under utilization of our offer we may want to consider a different charity for the organization during 2013. A committee consisting of Lee Langer, Bryan Weller, and April Malara has been formed to explore options with other charities in our area.
Greg Solomon our lecture chairman informed us about the up coming lecture schedule. March 3rd we will have Cameron Francis and May 5th Ice McDonald will be lecturing. Both lectures will be at 2 PM at the Best Western in Leesburg.
President Moody informed us that we have the Sinai Temple show coming up on March 24th in Minneola from 6 to 8 PM. We will be doing a 90-minute show.
Lee Langer, Magic Ian, Bryan Weller, and Greg Solomon have already agreed to perform. The Crowd Teaser Jim Moody will be the MC. We could use some additional performers and volunteers to help as stagehands; set up will be at 4 PM, please contact Lee Langer or Jim Moody.
Greg Solomon will be doing a fundraiser for his son
Aaron’s Eagle Scout project which will benefit the Hospice of Marion County. Aaron needs to raise about $8000.00. This will be on Sunday April 14th a Dinner Theater Magic Show dinner is included. Contact Greg for tickets and details.
The next meeting is going to be March the 28th .We do have the auction scheduled for this meeting. Bob Berruti won the 50/50.
Tonight’s theme is “Tubes and Tips” Our MC for tonight’s theme show is Brad Weller.
Brad Weller who did a comedy routine where theme for the evening was misinterpreted in that the “p” in Tips was replaced with a “t” opening the show. Bryan Weller did an entreating routine with thumb tip scarves. Tom Golabek did a funny impression of Jim Moody and a bit with a toilet paper tube. Jim Moody did a presentation with an assortment of various dye tubes, tips and scarves. Magic Ian did an extensive presentation using the steel ball and tube in several innovative ways. Don Taylor did a prediction with a shuffled deck and two ladies. Greg Solomon very successfully tested out a new routine. The worlds most dangerous card trick using a mountain lion traps. See it again at his fund raiser in April.
Respectfully submitted
