March meeting

The Lake County Magic Club

I.B.M.Ring 258

The Ken Krick Ring

Meetings are the 4th Thursday of the month. Our next meeting is on the 26th of April at 7:00pm. The meeting will be at Lil’ Anthony’s Pizza 1690 Citrus Blvd (Hwy 27/441) Leesburg

This is the night after the Villages Show and we will have a great deal to discuss, so mark your calendar for the 26th.

Our March Meeting was called to order by Jim Moody, Ring President. He announced that the Ring has two new members, Dick Mowry and Donna Pierson. Though we have all known Donna via her son Donald, who is a club member, we certainly welcome her as a new club member along with Dick.

Magicians Working:

Jim Moody is appearing at the Hilton in Melbourne.

The Ring 170 Dinner was announced and will be on 3/24, for more information go to the

Web Ring 170. You can get all the details there.

Ring 258 is pleased to announce that our membership has grown to 30 members.

A big Thank You to Alan Konstan, who graciously donated a bag full of tricks to be used in conjunction with the “Teach In” being conducted by club member at Camp Boggy Creek on 3/24.  Were sure the kids will eager to receive them.

For those members who have not ordered their club ball caps, they are still available.

Contact Jim Moody to order one.

On April 4th will have a rehearsal show in preparation for the Big Village Show on the 25th.

The rehearsal show will begin at 6pm so get there early. This will be a full dress rehearsal, so those members who plan on performing at the Village Show on the 25th need to be there. The Rehearsal Show will be followed with a meeting to formulate a Program for the 25th’s Show.

Don’t forget if you chose not to perform in the Village Show you can still be of valuable assistants by working back stage. We need everyone’s help to make the show as successful as

last years.

Lenn Lamoureux shared with the members a flyer he has produced to advertize the 25th’s show and the possibility of taking an ad out in the Daily Sun, the Villages Newspaper. Lenn is checking into cost and will get back with us.

The Big Village Show will be on the 25th of April and will begin at with the first of two shows at 6pm and the second show at 8:30pm. Those working the show should plan on being there by 3pm, especially performers. There are tables to set up the Lobby,

Lenn and Jarvis will are setting up the Flood Light and may need some help.

We have the Savannah Center from 1pm to 11pm.

Lenn Lamoureux who is handling the Club Library suggested the club purchase a number of DVD for use by club members. The question came up as to where we would get the most value for our money.

This is an open issue and will be discussed again at our next meeting.

Jim Moody announced that Magician Lynn Vanburan is selling off his magic. A list is available, contact Jim for more information.

Magic Ian let the club know that Brian Weller is in contact with another magician who is selling his magic and will keep us posted.

Ring 258 will have its Second Annual Flea Market on 5/12 from 12pm to 3pm. Table will be $5.00 each. Set up time is 10am for those who will be dealers at the Flea Market. The Flea Market will take place at the Youth Retreat Center (our old meeting place). Those who need direction contact me, wazoo54321@earthlink.net.

Trivia Question was answered by George Shield. Congratulations George. Jim Moody helped out by demonstrating several Multiple Outs.

50/50 was won by Gary Tucker, way to go!

George Smallwood was the winner of two tickets to the Renascence Fair in the Bay Area.

Enjoy George.

The theme for the March Meeting was “Torn and Restored”.

Our MC for the night was Greg Solomon who’s quick wit and repartee was enjoyed by all.

Roger Reid gave us all a chuckle with his “Torn and Restored Newspaper”.

Magic Ian did a flashy torn and restored paper with a Flash Paper Ending. We all hope his eyebrows grow back quickly.

Jack Palumbo did a torn and restored routine using a $20.00. After tearing up the 20 he restored it and had it appear under an empty beer bottle.  Way to go Jack.

Lee Langer did a neat “ClippO” routine and shared it with everyone. Thank You Lee.

Jim Moody told us the story of his encounter with a Traffic Cop who gave him a ticket which he promptly tore up, it was unfortunate the cop stopped him again and gave him another ticket which he tore up. Don't worry he was able to restore each ticket and go on his way.

Alan Konstan did a “Torn and Restored” routine with a card and a letter opener, after tearing a corner off the card and placing it on the table, the card was cut into small pieces with the letter open. He then restored the card; however it was missing the corner, would you believe the corner on the table matched it exactly.

Our MC for the night Greg Solomon closed our little show with a “Torn and Restored” paper routine and when the paper was restored it said “Good Night”.

And so the Meeting was closed until next month.

Here’s hoping we see you at the next meeting on April 26th.
