Our first order of business was the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, accompanied by an "Old Glory Blendo" by Magic Ian.  Guests were Judy Dunn, Ken Zacharias and Jeff Markow.  The passing of Roger Reid's father, in his hundredth year, was reported to the membership.  New members Don Taylor, Gail Taylor and Scott Rosenfeld were voted in and presented their new member kits.
Old Business
Mar. 4 Fund Raiser - Greg Solomon reported posters have been placed all over Ocala, flyers have gone to all schools and e-mail blasts to over 6,000 people in the district.  Jim Moody, Greg Solomon, Bryan Weller, Roger Reid and Magic Ian will perform on stage.  George Smallwood and Lee Langer will   perform close up in the lobby.  We still need workers back stage!
Camp Boggy Creek – Ground breaking for a $2M "Welcome Center" was held this week.  It will house offices and be the first stop for campers, families and visitors.  No dates yet for our next visit.
P.A. System – Chris Dunn reported we might obtain an excellent system from his church, at a very low price, since the church recently purchased a new one.  He will report next month and bring the system with him.
Lectures – Wally Libenson reports Mark Mason will lecture for the Ring on Sun., Apr. 3, 6:30 PM, at the Best Western Hotel on Rts. 27 & 441 in Leesburg.
SAM Spring Meeting – The SAM National Council will have its spring meeting in Orlando.  Assembly #99 will put on "An Evening of Magic and Dinner" at the Radisson Resort in Kissimmee, Mar. 9.  Performing in the show are Bev Bergeron, Dan Stapleton, Phillip Kaiser and Nathan Coe Marsh.
Web Site – Magic Ian has done a dramatic update of our Ring 258 web site, including a password protected area for Ring members only.
Ring Library – Jim reminded everyone of the Ring library of tapes and DVD's which are available on loan.  The subject of purchasing additional DVD's was opened, but when almost no one responded to the question "How many are using the library?" the subject was dropped.
Theme – The theme for the Mar. meeting will be “My first Magic Effect”.
New Business
Correspondence – A convention "AbraCornDabra" will be held in Altoona, Iowa May 20 – 22.
Meeting Place – The membership liked the new meeting room at "Legend's" and has approved continuing to meet there.  The room is spacious, private and can be re-arranged to our liking.  The food at the restaurant was excellent and priced right.
Product Review – Greg Solomon reviewed "Genie Magazine" and gave it a real "thumbs up".  For the annual fee of $54 you receive the monthly magazine and access to years of back issues on line.
     Entertainment
Our after meeting entertainment theme "Appearance" was emceed by George Smallwood who performed "Color Monte" making the $14 card appear!  Roger Reid made a rabbit appear out of a top hat and the rabbit in turn made a magician appear as well!  President Jim Moody produced a large kitchen knife from a sock, made fire from his wallet and had dollar bills re-appear in "Six Bill Repeat".  Tom "Stash" Golabeck, with Greg Solomon and the beautiful Myrna Smith, had the "Cockovyonka" wafer vanish and appear in the hand of a spectator. Wally Libenson used “Die to Dog” and had Santa Clause appear instead of the dog. Chuck Smith produced a silk handkerchief from nowhere!  And Magic Ian gave visitor Ken Zacharias a hard time while he made cards vanish and reappear as he magished "Cards Across".  Off theme, George West performed "Einstein's Favorite Trick" and Don Taylor did a "3 Card Monte".
Respectfully Submitted, Roger L. Reid, Secretary (Again, Again and Again!)
