President Jim Moody opened the meeting and introduced two guests, Fred "Knobity" Steal and Dennis Chiulli. The Treasurer reported we are up to 49 members and our bank account is healthy.
Old Business
The Ring 258 Flea Market/Auction/Lecture will be held on Sun., Nov. 14 at Day's Inn on Rt. 27 at the
Our next Camp Boggy Creek event will be the "Bruce Rossmeyer Ride for the Children" on Sun., Oct. 10, 2010. Volunteers Wayne Dowling, Rich Hewitt, Jim Moody, Jack Palumbo, Roger Reid, Greg Solomon, Lee Langer and Ring Photographer John "Santa" Abernathy will perform table to table, entertaining the 1,000 plus riders and will present a $500 donation check on stage during the event.
On Jan. 1, 2011 the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Ring 258 will begin. It was suggested that we investigate "Who was Ken Krick?" as part of the celebration.
New Business
Nominations for 2011 officers were opened. The current officers, Jim Moody President, Wally Libenson Vice President, Roger Reid Secretary and George Smallwood Treasurer were all re-nominated by acclaim. Nominations will also be taken from the floor at the Oct. meeting before the election.
The Dec. Meeting and
Magic Ian has generously loaned a "pop-up backdrop" to the club. The award plaque that he received last month, from the I.B.M, was for "Best Linking Ring Parade of 2009".
The theme for our Oct. meeting will be the Keith Doll Magic Collection. All of the effects and books that remain will be offered for sale to club members before going to the Flea Market & Auction in Nov.
The Nov. meeting, which falls on Thanksgiving Day, will be moved to Thur., Dec. 2.
There is a great article in Magic magazine this month, on the rules and regulations associated with using fire in your act.
Lee Langer is working on a Ring fund raiser show that may take place between Christmas and New Years at his Synagogue in
M.C. for the after meeting entertainment was "Stash" Golabek. The theme was "The Seven Principles of Magic." Each performer was to demonstrate an effect or effects and the audience was to identify which principle of magic had been applied.
Jim Moody led off with a color changing silk handkerchief a Transformation.
Magicians visiting the area are always "welcome" at our meetings.
