Meeting Minutes - I.B.M. Ring 258

The meeting was opened by Vice President Roger Many at 7:00 p.m with the Pledge of Alliegance. Guests were Ms. Sue Harris and Brad Weller. The January minutes and Treasurer's report were accepted and approved.
James "Skip" Waversak was voted in as a new member.
Old Business:
Roger Reid was thanked for his 4 years of service to the club as the Secretary.
Great Job Roger.
There was nothing to report on the Club participation at Boggy Creek. Roger Reid will get back to the Club as the information comes in.
It was reported that Danny Archer, Richard Sanders and David Acer will not be available for lectures, however the following have been booked.
Devin Knight in April and Rafael Benatar in June.
Tom Golabek will be checking on James Randi and Ian Sutz will be checking with George Mutton from the Magic Cafe for possible future lectures.
Greg Solomon reported that all things are a go for the magic show on Friday March 2, 2012 at the "Old Forrest High School" in Ocala. Showtime is at 7:00 p.m. Posters and flyers are up and being handed out. Center State Bank bought a block of 40 tickets.
Greg Solomon will be the M.C. The following Club members are scheduled to perform:
Foxfire and company, The Weller Brothers, Jim Moody, Terry Harris and Magic Ian (Sutz).
Wendy and Bob Morris, Roger Many and Don Taylor will be assisting back stage. George Smallwood will be in the Front Lobby and assisting in the sound booth. Chuck Smith will do the videotaping. The building for the show will be available starting at 3:00 p.m. The address is 1614 Fort King Street, Ocala, Florida 34471.
Extra help is still needed. If interested please call Greg Solomon at 352-369-0099.
A discussion on the date and location for the Summer picnic was tabled until next month. The estate auction being presented by George Smallwood and Jim Moody will be held at the Best Western in Leesburg. A vote was taken and approved to hold the auction on the meeting night in March. A list of the items will be made available to the Club members.
New Business:
Terry Harris informed the Club of the death of magician Martin Breese on Wednesday 02/22/2012. Mr. Breese died from leukemia.
George Many is checking on a new location for the Christmas party.
Dues are Due. Please see George Smallwood.
Discussion of the yearly flea market and lecture was tabled until next month.
Ian Sutz brought up the subject of having a membership development committee and that we should be putting out emails to all old members.
Tom Golabek reported that America's got Talent will be holding auditions in Miami and that anyone interested should get in contact with Ms. Maria Ibanez, I.B.M. Ring 45 Miami, Florida.
There was no correspondence to discuss.
Greg Solomon gave a favorable review on the Talisman book. This is a reprint of the old magazine being put out by Genii Magazine. Dave Lyons gave a favorable review of the Rubik's Cube trick. The 50-50 drawing was won by Greg Solomon.
The theme for the night's show was liquid magic. Roger Reid was our M.C.
Roger started the show with a flower production from a paper cone using the milk pitcher. Terry Harris followed with a funny miniature wallet routine leading into a water into ice cube back into water effect. Ian Sutz did a wine glass production. David Lyons then performed a water to rice routine. Bryan Weller was last but not least with an "off theme" routine, doing a Valentine's day card routine using the Svengali Deck. T
Meeting was adjourned at 9:05 p.m by Vice President Roger Many.
